Fight of the Century

Not an ordinary boxing match. It’s a Title Fight. A Championship fight for the ideas and inspiration of artistic endeavor for this Century. What better way to show my struggle and fight between Man versus Machine than a Stadium Event with all the world to see. The unease I feel in regards to the compatibility of AI and Art needs explanation, it needs reason in some manner beyond the enticement of a new tool. I ask myself could something that is literally created out of existing parts be truly a work of art? Artificial Intelligence can certainly be useful in a number of ways, in my view. But can using and combining parts be as creative a process as creating anew? So who will win this fight? I know what I would say .. or hope … how about you? There is no winner yet in this boxing ring. The crowds are cheering around the fighters who are pushing and pulling, pushing and pulling. In the audience, pictures are circling around, each of them representing the human as well as the non-human aspect of this struggle. The Stadium Installation was made by Forest and Rez. Forest created the photography, graphics, and the Opposing Figures, and Rez created the Stadium and environment.

About Forest:

It’s the sudden recognition you can have while creating something out of nothing. The ‘yes!, this is it!’ is what makes me thrive as an artist, be it in creating photographs, stories, poetry, or even in singing a song. My photographs reflect that moment of exuberant discovery of found art scenes from all over virtual worlds. Then varying the light, the angle, and adding a light source here and there to complete my vision. The recurring theme in my work as a photographer is my sensualist viewpoint of human experiences. For a long time this viewpoint translated into erotic photography. Some time ago I undertook a new journey to explore black and white portraits that inspire that viewpoint. My recent exposition, Man versus Machine, is a representative of that Journey. Lately I have been exploring the black and white medium further with two additional collections of themed, Found Art concepts: Rituals, and Tarot Cards. The Tarot Cards theme inspired me to explore the scale and presence of photographs as a new challenge.

About Rez:

Rez has many years experience supporting mid-career sculptors and visual artists in both virtual and real world expositions. He provides design skills and technical guidance to support artists' design direction and assist in the realization of their vision. With his background in architecture, engineering, and 3d modeling, Rez enhances the collaboration of art and science to accomplish the artists’ thought-provoking, daring, and inspiring ideas.
